From that perspective, I am rather satisfied with this final form, in which the strategic element of the command-based battle from the original co-exists with the real-time, action-oriented battle,

The Best Video Games of 2020 (So Far)

TIME - Tech

Summer and fall are often the worst time to be a video game fan. Publishers often hold their best stuff til the end of the year, and it's worse this year, because Microsoft and Sony are hanging on to their biggest games until the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 are out this holiday season. Still, 2020 has already offered an embarrassment of riches for gamers. Here are the best video games of 2020 so far, to tide you over til year's end: Doom Eternal ripped and tore its way into our hearts at the beginning of the year and hasn't been topped since. What makes Doom Eternal so remarkable is that it managed to improve on its predecessor, and in so doing proved the almost 30-year-old franchise is still as vibrant and vital as it was in 1993.

Predictions for Final Fantasy VII Remake's sequel: How it might play, what it might be called

Washington Post - Technology News

Given that the tale is about as familiar as Anakin Skywalker and Obi Wan Kenobi's mentorship, Remake seems to presume that the player already knows this backstory. It won't take much for the next game to fill out the rest. This would basically write out any need for Kalm, saving the developers some time. Another later location, Fort Condor, doesn't serve much purpose either other than to house a quest item. That item could easily be moved elsewhere and rewritten with a tie to a better, more relevant location.

We can speculate about all the reasons why it took nearly a quarter of a century before Square Enix decided to take a stab at remaking Final Fantasy VII. One reason likely involves the desire to make the next big thing and put the company's resources into that.
